Weekly Photo Challenge: Serenity

gvarv

My boys, who seem to have spent much of their young lives squabbling, somehow found detente

while staying at my great-grandparents’ farm near the town of Gvarv in Telemark, Norway.

Perhaps it was being out of their normal routine? Or perhaps it was the serenity of their surroundings?

    1. Yes, it is a beautiful! My family’s farm is on a peninsula and many family members still live and farm there. Although now some of the orchards are organic – apples and cherries. We don’t have quite the same sense of history of place here in the U.S. Thank you for your comment!

    1. Thank you! It is a lovely area in central Norway. Norway was a developing country when I first visited Gvarv in 1980 and it seemed very provincial to me. They showed Star Wars for the first time when I was there, but I had seen it in the U.S. three years earlier. I could understand then why my grandfather immigrated, but now Norway is quite prosperous and sophisticated. Thank you for your comment!

Everyone has the right to an opinion and I'd love to hear yours! While comments are very welcome, they will be moderated. My kids read this blog, too!
