My boys, who seem to have spent much of their young lives squabbling, somehow found detente
while staying at my great-grandparents’ farm near the town of Gvarv in Telemark, Norway.
Perhaps it was being out of their normal routine? Or perhaps it was the serenity of their surroundings?

Yes, it is a beautiful! My family’s farm is on a peninsula and many family members still live and farm there. Although now some of the orchards are organic – apples and cherries. We don’t have quite the same sense of history of place here in the U.S. Thank you for your comment!

Thank you! It is a lovely area in central Norway. Norway was a developing country when I first visited Gvarv in 1980 and it seemed very provincial to me. They showed Star Wars for the first time when I was there, but I had seen it in the U.S. three years earlier. I could understand then why my grandfather immigrated, but now Norway is quite prosperous and sophisticated. Thank you for your comment!

I do think a natural setting has a calming affect on both kids and adults.

Some years ago, I read that cities carry a much higher electromagnetic frequency that the country. And when we are in nature, our body rhythm adjusts to the natural rhythm of the earth.
